it's time.

i guess one can say i'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. i feel like i have a lot of extra and unnecessary responsibilities that at the end of the day, i'm putting on myself. yes things need to be done, but i don't always have to be the cleaner/picker up. i can't be responsible for everyone's mess ups. i need to take care of my own.

regardless...on saturday, i was able to attend Diversity Day at the law school which was a GREAT experience. i cannot wait for the day where i can actually sit in the "hot seat" in law school and discuss court cases. i've been working with the Black Law Student Association at the law school to charter a College Student Division on main campus and just having the opportunity to sit and listen in to real law students discuss their lives and what they discuss in class excites me. sometimes i feel like students on main campus are so focused on what happens between classes and work weeks that we neglect to appreciate the time we actually spend in class discussing real issues. but at the same time, i wish that my professors would leave theory for the birds for just 10 minutes and discuss our subject material in practical matters. i know we have to have the basics beforehand, but the practical knowledge makes everything so much more interesting. yes i care about how H.L.A. Hart defines law and how he believes Austin's coercive model is inadequate in defining "what is law" but unless we start applying some cases or practical accounts to this theory soon i'm going to go goofy.

i guess i'm just ready for a more intellectual experience...i want to be around peers who appreciate the same values and goals that i do and the more i look around, i find that there are few who fit that mold. few who care about issues that really matters and even have an opinion worth listening to. sometimes, i don't understand how my peers have managed to become so trivialized by the things and people with who we (often choose to) associate with. mind you, i've been guilty of this sin myself...maybe have even contributed to it at times...but

it's time for a change.
